Once we finalised the combined concept, I began working on the new code. This included creating an instructions panel to convey the storyline, as well as a new section of code to handle the interactions involving the genotype machine. Additionally, I developed the final interface, which allows players to make a guess on the blood type of Evelyn’s future sibling and provides a quick wrap-up of the key learnings from both concepts.

Failed laser cut because the slot for the blood vial was orientated wrongly (;.;)
With the new combined concept, we reprinted a new frame for the iPad and create a new cutout for the clear acrylic to accommodate the instructions panel.
Blood vials arrived!

and we also got stage blood for the most realistic experience!

Bobby then went to look for suitable beakers to use for our two parent blood samples.

We eventually decided on using this type of bottle with a dropper for minimal fuss and a cleaner look.

After the previous failed print for the genotype machine, we had several discussions and troubleshooting sessions before deciding on a more compact version of the genotype machine, which is shown on the right →

initial failed print because Bobby forgot to account for the elevated portion of the camera at the back of the phone.

We then decided to just cut a hole on the 3D print first due to the lack of time since the play test at science centre was the following day.

A very rough connection was also done up to show how we intended to connect the circuits.

We then finalised the positioning of the conductive tapes on the blood vials to enable accurate detection of the correct blood vial for each specific blood type.

and also filled up the two blood samples with stage blood and got ready for science centre!

For this play test, we prioritised the completeness of the final product we envisioned over the finish and quality of the prototypes. Our goal was to gather more comprehensive feedback on the overall project, which would help us identify and focus on areas where improvements were most needed.
